Jerusalem (AsiaNews/Agencies) - Two Israelis have been lightly wounded by a Katyusha rocket launched from southern Lebanon. The Israelis responded by firing six artillery rounds into southern Lebanon.
Lebanese security forces say that two rockets were fired from Lebanon, from the area of Mansouri, south of Tyre. So far, no one has claimed responsibility, but Hezbollah is suspected. One of the rockets landed in Lebanese territory.
The rocket that landed in Israel fell near the town of Maalot, near the border with Lebanon. One woman was injured by glass shattered in her home by the explosion.
During the Israeli military operation against Hamas in Gaza, last month three rockets were launched from southern Lebanon, hitting the Israeli cities of Nahariya and Kiryat Shmona.
In the summer of 2006, Israel opened a war against Lebanon in the south, precisely in order to stop the launching of rockets by Hezbollah, the Shiite militias supported by Iran and allied with Hamas.
Today's incident seems to have concluded, but Israeli military officials say that they are holding the Lebanese army and government responsible for the attacks, for being unable to stop Hezbollah's guerrilla activities.
