Jerusalem (AsiaNews) - Israeli aircraft struck Syrian positions overnight, just hours after a bomb exploded in the Golan Heights, wounding four Israeli soldiers, one seriously (see photo).
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel "is forced" to defend themselves.
In the four raids at 3 am (local time), a Syrian army training base, a military barracks and artillery battery were targeted.
Israeli defense minister Moshe Yaalon, accused the Syrian army of having helped in yesterday's attack and holds "the Assad regime responsible" for "collaborating with terrorists who want to attack Israel."
The four Israeli soldiers were wounded by a bomb placed along the road near Majdal Shams that exploded near their jeep. The soldiers had moved after seeing some suspicious prowlers along the border.
Yesterday's was just one of many incidents that occur along the border between Syria and Lebanon. It shows that the war in Syria is gradually engulfing the entire Middle East.
Israel believes the incidents are provoked by Hezbollah, the radical Shiite group in Lebanon. On 5 March, the Israeli army opened fire on two members of Hezbollah who were planting a bomb near the cease -fire line between Israel and Syria.
According to Israel, Hezbollah - which fight alongside Assad in the Syrian civil war - receives in return arms and freedom of movement.
From now on, the Israeli army has decided to tighten controls along the Golan Heights and the Shebaa farms.
