Beirut (AsiaNews) The Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir, has criticized the lack of attention paid by Lebanon's political world to the family, an essential bond of society, and its social rights.
During Mass in Bkerke yesterday, he said: "Especially in these difficult days, the Lebanese family needs the help of the state to be able to take on its economic, educational, cultural and social responsibilities, since many families have lost one or more members, have been forced to emigrate or have lost their homes and source of livelihood".
In such a situation, he asked whether "leaders, whatever their roles and political membership, have demonstrated that the family which the fate of the country hinges on is a matter of serious concern for them."
