Moscow (AsiaNews/Agencies) – The Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow has in mind a closet collaboration with the Vatican on tissues such as the de-Christianization of Europe, safeguarding human rights and defence of the family.
The Patriarch of Moscow, Alexi II, has expressed that he believes “this cooperation to be of great importance in Europe where Christian roots run deep. Unfortunately – he added – these same roots are being forgotten and even rejected”.
In a declaration issued by RIA Novisti, Alexi II adds that “attempts to impose a non religious way of thinking on society and a way of life which marginalizes religion” is particularly strong in Europe. For this reason Alexi II hopes that the Orthodox and Catholic churches can unite on fundamental questions such as Europe’s Christian roots, human rights and bioethics.
