Kochi (AsiaNews/ICNS) The first biography of Benedict XVI written in Malayalam (southern India's main language) was published last Saturday in Kochi, Kerala. Written by famous Catholic journalist Ignatius Gonsalves, it is "an easy yet profound read", intended as a tribute to the "Pope's first year on the throne of Peter".
"It is a unique biography that is meant for everyone to read. It gives an accurate and in-depth analysis of the Pope's personality," said Archbishop Daniel Acharuparambil of Verapoly.
Kalady Sri Sankara University Vice Chancellor, Dr K.S Radhakrishnan, who presented the book along with Archbishop Acharuparambil, said that "[e]veryone in India, irrespective of caste, creed and religion wants to know about the new Pope. And this biography is the best example of a great book on a great religious leader like Pope Benedict XVI".
Gonsalves, who spent months researching on the life and times of Pope Benedict, said he "always admired Pope Benedict and his vision for the Church. I am happy that I have been able to show my respect for the Pope through this biography".
