India: Orthodox Church honors Sajan George, Christian activist for minorities

The president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC ) has been awarded the Mar Osthathios Puraskaram Award. Presented by His Beatitude Baselios Mar Thomas Poulose II, primate of the Indian Syro-Malankara Orthodox Church.

Mumbai (AsiaNews) - Sajan K George , president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC ) and close friend of AsiaNews, has received the Mar Osthathios Puraskaram Award for "his generous assistance offered to all centers of mission and commitment as social activist".  The prize was presented by His Beatitude Baselios Mar Thomas Poulose II, primate of the Indian Syro-Malankara Orthodox Church.

The award ceremony took place yesterday in the presence of 10 metropolitan bishops and hundreds of faithful.

Through the GCIC , Sajan George provides support and assistance to minorities in India who are discriminated against and persecuted . The Indian Syro-Malankara Orthodox Church counts more than 2 million members worldwide and hundreds of missionary centers.
