Vijayawada (AsiaNews) - In his homily during the consecration ceremony of four sisters, Mgr Joji Govindu, apostolic administrator of Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), said they now embarked on a consecrated journey following in the footsteps of the foremost role model, Mary, who constantly expressed her "fiat" to God's loving plan.
The women religious - Kamala Ransom, Janet D'Souza, Sunitha Pulawarthy and Aruna Varghese - pronounced their final vows on 30 December, in front of relatives, friends and Sister Amala Rani, provincial superior of the Missionaries of the Immaculate (MSI), a female congregation associated with PIME, to which they belong.
"The ceremony of the final vows carries a great significance and inspiration to the congregation gathered for the service, as this falls right at the start of the Year of the Consecrated Life," Mgr Govindu said.
The bishop praised the missionary nature of the congregation, of which "the world and India have great need."
