Mumbai (AsiaNews/Agencies) – The only surviving terrorist of the Mumbai attacks is an adult and therefore he can be put to death. Mohammad Ajmal Amir, better known as Kasab, marinated from the outset that he was 17 and this is why his lawyer, Abbas Kazmi, had frequently requested that his client be tried by a juvenile court.
Dental exams and bone x-rays instead showed that the Pakistani Kasab is over twenty years of age. Kazmi has asked the court for a second commission of experts to verify the result, but the Prosecutor presented two witnesses who affirm that Kasab is an adult.
Swati Sathe, Jail superintendent said when he was admitted to the prison, Kasab gave his age as 21 and his date of birth as September 13, 1987. A second witness confirmed this: Venkat Ramamurthy, a resident doctor in a government hospital, testified that when the injured Kasab was brought there at 1 a.m. on November 27, 2008, he said his age was 21.
In response to the testimonies presented by the prosecutor, the defence lawyer Kazmi requested to examine two more witnesses from the hospital, where Kasab underwent treatment.
