Bhubaneshwar (AsiaNews / Agencies) - This morning more than 50 Maoist rebels abducted Jhina Hikaka (see photo), from the Biju Janata Dal Parliamentary (BJD), in Koraput district (Orissa). The guerrillas captured the man on his way home. His security guards were released, their cell phones confiscated. Meanwhile, today is the third day of negotiations for the release of two Italians, in the hands of the Maoists since March 14. The BJD is the party of the chief minister of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik.
The Maoists have demanded the same conditions for Hikaka's release as those for Claudio Colangelo and Paolo Bosusco. Among these, a halt to all anti-Maoist military operations and the release of some prisoners, including the wife of a local leader Sabyasachi Panda. BD Sharma and Dandapani Mohanty, negotiators engaged in negotiations for the liberation of the Italians, have called on the Maoists to release the BJD MP.
Meanwhile, the television channel CNN-Ibn reports that Bosusco has sent a letter to his family. In it, the guide says: "I was kidnapped by a local extremist group and I hope that everything will end soon. If something goes very badly, I just want to tell you that I love you."
