Ahmedabad (AsiaNews) – The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) recently held its fourth national conference (26 April-1 May) at the pastoral centre in Nadiad (Gujarat) under the auspices of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI).
Centred on the topic “Youth for synodal Church, the meeting brought 437 delegates from across the country to share their experiences following the path indicated by Pope Francis to the universal Church.
The conference, opened by Bishop Nazarene Soosai of Kottar (who also chairs the CCBI Youth Commission), included various study sessions and group discussions, during which young people shared their stories, dreams, aspirations, and expectations about the Church.
The exchanges enabled participants to talk about their experiences and their commitment to the Church as well as to major social issues like the environment, the fight against poverty and addiction, youth unrest, communal divisions, etc.
The meeting was meant to help young leaders to be more effective in their work of promoting a better society, based on righteousness, justice, peace and harmony.
Delegates also filled the administrative positions within the ICYM with the new coordinating national team officially taking office.
