Kuala Lumpur (AsiaNews/Agencies) Two Americans jailed for distributing Christian religious material to Muslims ten days ago were freed in Kuala Lumpur.
"All the accusations were withdrawn and the two were released," said a spokesperson for the US Embassy.
Ricky Rupert and Zachary Harris were arrested on April 25 and sentenced to 14 days in jail by a local court for their actions.
Trying to convert a Muslim (60 per cent of the population) in Malaysia is considered a crime.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi recently stated that publishing the Bible in local languages was allowed but the book should bear the warning 'Not for Muslims'.
