Chrysostomos of Cyprus: no desire for “human rights” war with Turkey
The Orthodox archbishop talks to AsiaNews about the situation on the island occupied by Turkey, the risks to Christianity in the Middle East and for interreligious dialogue. No clash of civilizations, he says, but the need for greater coordination among Christians, also to help Muslims of good will.

Long, but with no alternative, the march of ecumenical dialogue
The talks in Cyprus between Catholics and Orthodox, the first phase of post-Ravenna, were centred on the search for what unites and therefore on the examination of declarations made by Church figures of the first millennium, when the Church was united. The interdependence between collegiality and primacy.
Ankara cancels Istanbul visit by archbishop of Cyprus
It is the second time in four months the visit is cancelled. Chrysostomos and the ecumenical patriarch were set to meet in May for strictly religious purposes. Religious minorities are concerned. Archbishop of Cyprus says: “Ankara has shown its real face.”

Metropolitan Zizoulas: Defend ecumenical dialogue against those who oppose it
The second meeting for dialogue between Catholics and Orthodox, taking place in Cyprus, sees strong protest and progress at a standstill for fear of "subjugating the Orthodox to the Pope in Rome." Pope in Turkey to have bearing on ecumenism, ties with Islam, human rights
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I believes the pope's visit may prompt the Turkish government to respect the rights of minorities, different ethnic groups and religions. Dialogue between Catholic and Orthodox is at a "crucial point" about the primacy of the bishop of Rome.
