Pope: the persecution of Christians tells us that Christ’s victory "is near”
"We can not talk about religion , it's a private thing , no? Do not speak about it publicly . Religious signs are removed. We must obey the orders of worldly powers. We can do many things, beautiful things, but not worship God. "
Vatican City ( AsiaNews) - The
persecution of Christians tells us that Christ's over evil "is near", over "worldly
powers " for whom religion is a "private matter " and who forbid
worship of God.
Mass this morning at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis spoke of the final struggle
between God and Evil, which the end of year liturgy offers us in these days.
Vatican Radio reports that the Pope
spoke of a great danger: "universal temptation ." The
temptation to give in to the lure of those who want to defeat God, have the
better of those who believe in Him. But he who believes has a clear reference point
upon which to keep his gaze fixed. It
is the story of Jesus, with the trials endured in the desert and then the
"many" trials born in his public life , seasoned with " insults
" and " slander ," the extreme affront of the Cross , where,
however, the prince of the world loses his
battle before the resurrection of the Prince of Peace .
passages show that the life of Christ in the final upheaval of the world,
described in the Gospel, the stakes are greater than the drama represented by
natural disasters . "When
Jesus speaks of this calamity in another passage he tells us that it will be a
profanation of the temple, a desecration of the faith of the people: it will be
an abomination, the desolation of an abomination . What is that? It will be
like the triumph of the prince of this world:
the defeat of God. At that final moment of disaster, it will seem that he shall
come upon this world, he will be the master of the world".
is the core of the "final test" : the desecration of faith. Which
by the way is very clear in what the prophet Daniel suffers, in the story of
the first reading : he is thrown to the lions for worshiping God rather than
the king . Therefore
, the "desolation of abomination" has a specific name , " the
prohibition of worship."
can not talk about religion, it's a private thing , no? Do not speak of this
publicly. Religious signs are removed. We must obey the orders of worldly
powers. We can do many things, beautiful things, but not worship
God. Prohibition of worship. This is the
center of the end . And when we arrive at the fullness - the ' kairos ' of this
attitude, when this pagan time has come- then yes , it will be Him: ' And they
shall see the Son of Man coming
in a cloud with power and great glory ' . Christians who suffer persecution, prohibition
of worship are a prophecy of what will happen to us all . "
, when the " time of the Gentiles are fulfilled" is the time to raise
your heads, because the "victory of Jesus Christ" is near. "We
should not be afraid , He only asks us for faithfulness and patience. Faithful
like Daniel, who was faithful to his God and worshiped God until the end.
Patience, so that the hair of our head will not fall off . Thus the Lord has
promised . This
week we would do well to think of this general apostasy , which is called the
prohibition of worship and ask: 'Do I adore the Lord ? Do I adore Jesus Christ,
the Lord, or only a little, 'half and half, I play the game of the prince of this
' . Worshiping until the end, with the trust and faithfulness: this is the
grace that we ask this week. "

Pope: Overcome culture of indifference and build a true culture of encounter
"Not just see but look. Not just hear but listen. Not just meet and pass by but stop. And don’t just say ‘what a shame, poor people,’ but allow ourselves to be moved by pity. And then draw near, touch and say in the language that comes to each one of us in that moment, the language of the heart: ‘Do not weep,’ and donate at the very least a drop of life".
Pope: Christians and the temptation to "sell ourselves" to be "normal" and "like everyone else"
In the homily at Mass in Santa Marta, Pope Francis warns Christians against the "worldly normality", which forgets the election we have received and induces us to live with an "inferiority complex" not being "normal people " . In order not to fall into this trap, it is important to open our hearts to the Word of God, to walk the "true" path.
Pope warns against everyday temptation to "flee from God "
Commenting on the biblical passages of Jonah and the Good Samaritan , Francis notes that sometimes someone who is “distant” is capable "of letting" God write their lifestory, "while a Christian may want “to write” his or her own.
Pope: Catechism not enough to know Jesus, heart, prayer, dialogue are needed
During the Mass celebrated this morning , Francis says that " You need to" go out, out walking along the streets ”. And it is ' necessary' to know Jesus in the language of action." Yesterday he concelebrated with the Maronite bishops calling for prayer for the Middle East .

Pope: Salvation comes from Christ’s' suffering, which defeated "the ancient serpent" forever
To know how much God loves us, we only have to contemplate the Crucifix: a tortured man, a God," emptied of divinity"," dirtied" by sin. But a God whose self-abasement forever destroys the real name of evil, that which Revelation calls "the ancient serpent".
Trump, Marine Le Pen and the Middle East: Lebanon against walls and divisions
The beginning of the Trump presidency has been characterised by the "babelisation" of American society. Each country pours out his hatred against an external enemy. The current global crisis has religious roots. At the heart of the chaos there is the Jihadi threat. The third world war cannot be won with drones, but with moderation and promoting rapprochement and discussions.
EGYPT - ISLAM
Al Azhar under the influence of Daesh Islamism
The official religious institutions and so-called Islamic universities are the cause of the immobility of the Muslim world. The programs taught and literature used at Al Azhar are the same that are applied on the ground by all armed terrorists. No comparison possible between Al Azhar and the Vatican. The Vatican has hosted Iraqi Muslims and Syrians fleeing the war. Al Azhar has never done anything for Christians and Yazidis. The persecution of Nasr Mohamed Abdellah, eager to modernize Islam. The comment of one Muslim student.
