Cardinal asks Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao to stop "rogue officials" who carry out violence against the Church and the conscience of the faithful, Msgr. Tong asks all the faithful of the diocese to pray that the faith of Christians in China may be strengthened. Justice and peace, on behalf of Cardinal Zen, issues 60 thousand copies of a newspaper on the illegitimate ordinations, religious freedom and priests imprisoned in China, as well as passages of the Letter of Benedict XVI to Chinese Catholics.

Harbin’s illicit ordination delayed: Victory for "Faithfull’s prayers and fasting"
The Episcopal ordination was to have taken place tomorrow, the Feast of St. Peter and Paul, as a "slap in the face to the Holy Father." Underground and official community united in prayers against the move. Voices warn the ordination only "postponed until next month." The United Front, which controls the Patriotic Associations, loses a supporter of Stalinist control over religions, Zhu Weiqun.

Vatican Commission sends message to Chinese Catholics
The document calls for hope, despite the "evidence" that the faithful are dealing with the illegitimate ordination of Chengde and the 8th National Assembly of Catholic representatives, pointing to the dictates of the Code of Canon Law and the directions of Benedict XVI. The urgent need for the appointment of bishops in vacant dioceses and the importance of formation. Hopes for government openness to dialogue.

The retired bishop of Hong Kong comments on the recent statement by the Office of Religious Affairs. Non-believing authorities want to lead evangelization and pastoral care. They want to create a schism, they need to find a Luther or Henry VIII. But the harsh winter will end.

Following illicit ordinations achieved through violence and deceit the Patriotic Association subjects priests to political sessions and brainwashing to destroy their faithfulness to the pope. AsiaNews supports the bishops' appeal.

Illicit ordinations in China: the Holy See explains what is to be done with excommunicated bishops
At the request of many Chinese believers, underground and official, the Vatican issues a statement to explain matters related to illicit ordinations and subsequent excommunication of bishops (ordaining and ordained). The guilty parties should make a public gesture of penance, abstain from the Eucharist, the sacraments and government of the diocese. All this is a "medicinal" cure to allow for reintegration into Catholic communion. The full text of the Declaration.
