Bangladesh government launches 'digital bus' service with free 'Wi-Fi' for all
Dhaka (AsiaNews) - The Government of Bangladesh launched a 'digital bus' service on Thursday with free Wi-Fi for passengers in the capital Dhaka, starting with the Uttara-Motijheel route.
The state-owned Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) announced that in addition to Wi-Fi, buses would also include vehicles tracking technology identifying buss location and distance.
Passengers will be able to activate their devices through the buses' QR code scanner, which has installed on some 400 buses: 100 articulated and 300 double-deckers
Young people are especially happy with the 'digital bus service.' "I take the bus every day to go to university," said Riopn Roy, a Dhaka University student, speaking to AsiaNews, "and now I can surf the net doing it. I think Bangladesh is going forward, day after day."
