Church launches professional courses to help the unemployed youth
by JB. Vu
Church creates job placement classes for young people from the entire country. Funding to help them economically has also been created to help those less fortunate.

Ho Chi Minh City (AsiaNews) – To help the unemployed youth and create, at the same time, a bridge of equality between the citizens of north and south Vietnam, the local Church has launched professional courses and economic aid.

Every year, nearly three million kids graduate in Vietnam. Of this, 30% continue their studies at university level, while 70% immediately start looking for work. Vietnam’s population is increasing causing unemployment to be an issue.

One of the first effects of this phenomenon is the integration of immigration, which unleashes a series of social problems that are difficult to manage. To help these young people the Church created a project of placement in the work field.

Funds designed to help graduates in difficult economic situation that are looking for work have also been created. At the same time, p. Thanh heads a professional course attended by many young Vietnamese from the diocese.

The priest told AsiaNews that the course “ helps many young people in their work in the metropolis. In some cases, we are able to hire them in the diocese, where they conduct different types of duties. With a salary of 100 dollars a month, they can live with dignity and also help their families.”.

At the same time, he underlines, “ they must not allow themselves to settle for less: we are thinking of opening new classes to teach them business management”.

Miss Huong, from the Bui Chu diocese, class leader: “ We come from different places: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and other places. We are very happy to work with p. Thanh in order to create solidarity between Catholics in the North and in the South of the country. We work together and we help one another.”
