Dear Friends, we are asking for help for AsiaNews

by Bernardo Cervellera

Dear Friends, dear readers,

this short editorial has one simple message: AsiaNews needs your help. We need your help in prayer, in boosting our reach, in funds. In terms of prayer, we are thankful to have some cloistered communities who pray for our mission and we would ask you to spiritually join them. In terms of boosting our reach, we are thankful for those among you who already share our articles in newspapers, blogs, websites, and we would ask you all to join them.

In economic terms there are some friends who, month by month, offer small or large sums so that our voice and that of the Churches of Asia are not extinguished. In this aspect we need many more readers to take our continued existence to heart.

In these 16 years of existence, AsiaNews.it has suffered together with you for the plight of the Iraqi refugees from Mosul and we have tried to be close to them, helping priests and bishops who in Kurdistan have provided for their food, clothes, school, houses, in the hope of a safe return to their land.

We cried with the Nepalese, crushed by a terrible earthquake, giving as much as possible for the reconstruction of their homes.

We are close to the many young Chinese Christians, for whom we have devised instruments of cultural and religious formation in Chinese, and offered scholarships for some seminarians and priests.

We see all of this is part of our mission: we are not just an information tool, but an experience of the Church, concerned about the welfare and growth of the Christian community in the lands of Asia.

This is why we are now asking you for help. Without this simple tool, which is our agency, so many experiences of pain and martyrdom, of courage and hope would remain unknown, unheard and without the fruit that comes from communion and closeness among us.

Helping AsiaNews is helping the mission of the Churches of Asia but it is also helping the awakening to mission in Italy and in Europe.

Thank you.
