In Dubai, the largest mall in the world

The "Mall of the World" can accommodate up to 80 million visitors. Next to it will rise a park larger than Hyde Park of London. The emirate already tops the rankings for the most impressive shopping malls and hotels. Meanwhile, the tourism sector is growing by 13% per year and hotel revenues by 22%.

Dubai (AsiaNews/Agencies) - The Emirate authorities have presented their project for the "Mall of the World", the largest shopping center in the world. The works will begin in the coming months. Next to the complex, which expects to welcome over 80 million visitors, an extraordinary park will be built, which according to estimates will be a third larger than Hyde Park in London.

The Emirate has many shopping malls and hotels, including the Dubai Mall, touted as the largest shopping, leisure and entertainment destination in the world. In 2012, over 62 million people passed through its streets, buildings and shops.

The tourism sector of the Arab Emirate is growing by about 13% per year, while its hotel revenues are up 22% (about 4.4 billion U.S. dollars). In autumn 2009, the debt crisis led Dubai towards bankruptcy. Thanks to the other emirates, the small country reorganized its financial situation and its economy has gone back to posting positive figures.
