Jakarta, seminars and meetings on the Year of Faith and the Second Vatican Council

(AsiaNews) - In celebration of the Year of Faith and paying tribute to the 50
years since the Second Vatican Council, Indonesian Catholics are organizing, a
"grand seminar" for the month of December in which we will study some
of the most important documents
bequeathed by the Council Fathers. Meanwhile,
some "minor" events have already begun in local communities, such as he
a recently held two-day seminar in Jakarta - organized by Kbkk, Kelompok Bakti
Kasih Kemanusiaan on 5 and 6 October - on Verbum Domini, the second apostolic exhortation of Pope
Benedict XVI, promulgated by the pope in September 2010. It
presents some reflections that emerged during the Synod of Bishops of 2008,
focused on the theme: "The Word of God in the life and mission of the
Church."
The
meeting was attended by dozens of activists and faithful who discussed, studied
and debated the papal document in sessions led by theology professors and
experts in the scriptures.
The
Year of Faith sees also involved the Indonesian Bishops Conference (KWI), on 11
October, a it held a meeting with eminent professors and theologians at its
headquarters in Jakarta, who presented some studies on the Second Vatican
Council. Prior
to the seminar on the Scriptures, a group of priests celebrated Mass attended
by prominent figures of the Catholic community in the capital, along with
hundreds of faithful.
During his homily, Msgr. Johannes
Pujasumarta Pr, Archbishop of Semarang and secretary general Kwi, pointed out
that the Eucharist is "a symbol of gratitude to the Lord," for the
precious gift of the Second Vatican Council, called a "cornerstone"
of the universal Church. And
at that time, when he was a young seminarian, recalls the request to any future
priest to "exercise the sacrament of reconciliation and the recitation of
the Hail Holy Queen". The
