Mgr Ma Daqin, auxiliary bishop of Shanghai, restarts his blog
In his first message, Mgr Ma Daqin posts a picture and five poems by a Jesuit priest. The texts betray the prelate's sorrow, solitude and sadness. Since 7 July, he has been forced to stay in the Sheshan Seminary. Chinese and foreign Catholics have responded to his postings with words of consolation and prayers.

In Hong Kong, 150,000 people remember the Tiananmen massacre
More than 700 young Catholics took part in the prayer that preceded the candlelight vigil in Victoria Park. For them, remembrance and faith are important values. Faith helps understand the importance of life and human dignity.

Marking the anniversary of the repression of the anti-corruption pro-democracy movement, the bishop of Hong Kong led a prayer meeting for democracy in Hong Kong and China, in the lead up to the evening vigil remembering the victims held in Victoria Park.

Police and security personnel in riot gear. Tourists stopped; journalists threatened. Chinese media claim there is a plan by "Western anti-Chinese forces" to hit China. At least 150 thousand people expected at Victoria Park Vigil. Many mainland Chinese arriving secretly to commemorate those killed in the massacre.

Many mainlanders also participated in the service. A group of party elders urge leaders to grant proper funeral honours to former leader who was ousted after Tiananmen.

There is pressure to forget the past and the struggle for democracy. Ahead of the Victoria Park vigil, Msgr. Joseph He will lead a time of prayer together with Protestant Christians.
