Shadow of Kurds and Syrian crisis in Gaziantep attack

Istanbul (AsiaNews) - At least 8 people were killed and 60 were injured some seriously in a car bombing close to the Gaziantep police station at around 8pm local time yesterday evening. The city is on the Turkish Syrian boarder.

Responsibility for the remote controlled attack has been attributed to the Kurdish PKK (Kurdish Workers Party considered a terrorist group by Turkey, USA and EU) , who so far, however, have not claimed part in the attack.

The PKK hare no strangers to violent and bloody attacks: most bombings target Turkish military forces and are concentrated in the south east of the nation, which has a majority Kurdish population.

What is most shocking about this attack is that it targets the civilian population - passersby and a child are among the victims - the city of Gaziantep, one of the biggest I the area, is very close to the Turkish-Syrian boarder and up until now had been spared from attacks.

Il fatto preoccupa assai Ankara , per gli sviluppi imprevedibili che esso può avere in questa zona del Medio Oriente divenuta esplosiva

Ankara is deeply concerned by the explosion and maintains that Syria is arming PKK militants, who are intensifying their ties with Syrian Kurds who control northern Syria.

Recently Ankara announced that at least 70 thousand Syrian refugees has crossed into Turkey and declared that they could not welcome any more than 100 thousand for fear that the same refugees could become a walking time bomb. Turkish authorities fear that the Syrian conflict could spread within its own boarders.
