Teheran tests missiles capable of targeting Israel and US bases
The television exalts the show of strength “to defend the integrity of the Iranian nation” in the face of an attack from Israel or US nuclear bases. Concern expressed by the Arab world including Saudi Arabia.

Teheran (AsiaNews/Agencies) – Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards (Pasdaran) have test launched 9 long and medium range missiles which could hit Israel and US military bases in the region.  The missile launched took place in the Iranian desert and was broadcast live by state television this morning.  Among the missiles tested is the Shahab 3, which according to official statements, is capable of hitting targets up to 2 thousand km away.  A second type was tested in the launch, the Great Prophet III, which has a shorter range.

The tests occurred at a time of increased tension between Iran and Israel over Tehran's disputed nuclear program, which the West fears is aimed at making bombs. Iran says its nuclear program is only for power generation.  Speaking on television,  Hossein Salami, Revolutionary Guards air force commander stated that these “war games” aim to show that “we are ready to defend the integrity of the Iranian nation”.

The international community has for months now been questioning the possibility of an Israeli or American air strike on Iranian nuclear bases. The firing comes a day after an aide to supreme leader Ayatollah  Ali Khamenei warned Iran would "set fire" to Israel and the US navy in the Gulf as its first response to any American attack.

The Arab world – in particular Saudi Arabia – has also expressed its serious concern at Iran’s increased influence in the Middle East.

What is the true good of the Church in China
by Card. Joseph Zen Ze-kiunOn the eve of an important meeting in Rome on "Jesus our contemporary," Card. Zen asks all Catholics to help the Church in China (and especially its legitimate bishops) to emerge from ambiguity, to follow Benedict XVI and "rid" themselves of those organisms that are enemies of the faith (see PA, Bureau of Religious Affairs, etc. .), and that control and stifle the faithful. The Chinese Church is on the verge of a schism caused by "bargaining" between the Catholic faith and political power. The subtitle of this article (wanted by the author) is: "In dialogue with the Community of Saint Egidio and Gianni Valente of 30Days".

Msgr. Savio Hon: Freedom for arrested bishops and priests, is also good for China
by Bernardo CervelleraEven if the government does not give answers or to the Holy See, or diplomats, or to friends of the Vatican and China, it is important that "no one forgets about them." The Chinese government's official response when asked is always: "We do not know." "We need to pray first," "but we must also appeal to those who are holding them."
