Titled 'Tibet - Treasures from the Roof of the World,' the exhibit can be seen at the Casa dei Carraresi, Treviso, from 20 October 2012 to 2 June 2013. Divided in five themes, it shows 300 pieces, including sacred objects, artefacts and paintings.

Treviso (AsiaNews) - The exhibition 'Tibet - Treasures from the Roof of the World' (20 October 2012-2 June 2013) is now open at the Casa dei Carraresi, Treviso, Italy.

It includes 300 sacred objects, artefacts, jewellery, musical instruments, paintings and documents that tell the story of the art, history and religion of the 'People of the Snow,' from the 14^th century to the present.

Brought in 26 boxes weighing five tonnes, the pieces came from the Tibetan cities of Lhasa, Shigatze and Gyantze, as well as the Museum of Nationalities and the collections held in the Forbidden City in Beijing.

The exhib is divided into five major themes: Genghis Khan and the inclusion of the Tibetan plateau in the Mongol-Chinese Empire in the thirteenth century; Tibetan Buddhist deities; the 'Tangke,' the famous religious paintings that represent the stories of Prince Siddhartha; the divinatory masks worn by monks in the ritual dances; and the customs and traditions of the Tibetan people.
