Bandra, Pious Disciples of the Divine Master observe '24 hours for the Lord '

by Nirmala Carvalho

The chapel of Prarthanalaya will remain open until 7 o'clock tomorrow morning. The initiative offers the opportunity to gather in adoration and confession. Sr. Amita: "Come and adore the Eucharistic Lord and ask for his intercession for humanity".

Mumbai (AsiaNews) - The Pious Disciples of the Divine Master of Bandra (Mumbai) are joining together with Pope Francis and the universal Church in the celebration of "24 hours for the Lord". The initiative takes place in the Prarthanalaya chapel from 7am this morning and will end at the same time tomorrow.

The "24 hours for the Lord" began five years ago in Rome. Also this year in every diocese at least one church will remain open for 24 consecutive hours in order to offer everyone the opportunity to gather in Eucharistic adoration and confession. The guiding thread is the words of Psalm 130 "With you is forgiveness".

Sister Amita Mascarenhas, superior of the community, reports to AsiaNews: "The Pious Disciples of the Divine Master are the Missionaries of Jesus Master, and we are the modern version of the women of the gospel! The center of our discipleship is our Divine Master who engages our minds, wills, hearts, and energies. He is our Way, our Truth, and our Life, perennially present in the Holy Eucharist ".

The Sisters of Bandra are part of the Pauline family. This is the third year that they celebrate the initiative. In 2016 they prayed with Card. Telesphore Placidus Toppo, Archbishop of Ranchi (see photo). Inviting people to participate, Sr. Amita says: "The chapel will remain open to all - bishops, priests, religious, but also individuals and groups of faithful, families and friends, anyone who wants to worship the Eucharistic Lord and ask for his intercession for all humanity, especially for needs of the Church ".
