Moscow patriarch responds to 138 Muslim scholars
In a letter published on the Moscow Patriarchate website, Aleksij II lays out the ground for a possible dialogue with Islam, namely the need to face common challenges that require joining forces. At the same time he insists that in any exchange the identity of each participant must be respected so as to avoid the danger of syncretism.

We have “a Common Word,” say 138 Muslim scholars in a letter to the Pope
The letter, which was signed by Sunni and Shia scholars from almost every Muslim country, is addressed to all Christian leaders. “If Muslims and Christians are not at peace, the world cannot be at peace.”
Moscow Patriarchate to “monitor” Catholic orphanages
The decision comes at the end of a meeting by a joint working group on problems between the two Churches. The Patriarchate wants to keep an eye on Orthodox children who live in Catholic institutions. This however has been the rule for years. Once again silence prevails on other, more important issues.
Muslim scholars’ letter to the “Jewish community”
Some Muslim intelelctuals write to the world’s Jewish community as others did back in October to Christian leaders. Signatories emphasise their commitment to improving and increasing mutual respect and understanding with members of other religions.
Pakistani Muslims: solidarity with Christians, victims of Lahore arson attack
Over a thousand people attended an inter- religious conference. Hindu and Sikh leaders also present, as well as Saudi Muslim personalities. Appeal to Islamabad to punish those responsible for the attacks. Government of Punjab applauded for its support. Invitations to harmony and combat extremism.
Moscow, Muslims may end up praying in churches
The mufti of the capital warns: lack of mosques, we would not want to end up celebrating in churches. The Russian Orthodox Patriarchate says it is "happy to accommodate our Muslim brothers." But these are superficial statements to content the government's policy of tolerance. Neither community is planning to arrive at such "extreme" solutions.
