Each year, the local Catechetical Centre organizes meditations and gatherings with prayer and singing, to help the faithful to live Lent. An activity joined by more and more faithful.

Lent in Indonesia: Life only changes if we are influenced by God
Many initiatives launched by the 37 dioceses in the country on Ash Wednesday. With the project "Development and fasting" the faithful donate surplus food and money in favor of those in need. Many dioceses launch prayer chains that will end in October. Renewal of family ministry: "The Christian home is the place of children’s education to charity."
Lent: money saved by fasting to aid poor Filipinos
The bishops urge the population to support during Lent the Hagap-Asa (Hope), to help more than 120 thousand poor children and their families. In 2008, three out of ten children have gone hungry. In some areas of the country's poverty rate reaches 30%.

Sri Lanka, bishops and faithful fasting for religious freedom in the country
The episcopal conference proclaims next April 3 a day of prayer and fasting against the anti-conversion bill. The bishops are calling for "reconciliation" and "to spare the beloved country of another conflict among adherents of different faiths and religions." The alms gathered during the day will be sent to the people in the north who are victims of the war.
Easter among Christians of Anatolia for three years without a bishop
Throughout the Vicariate of Anatolia preparations are underway for Holy Week almost three years after the death of Msgr. Padovese. On April 2 in Urgup a Mass for Iraqi, Afghan and Iranian Christians spread throughout Cappadocia. Two baptisms in the small community. Because of the distances masses are only at Christmas, Easter and the Assumption.

Cambodian children give up snacks to help their peers in Syria
A snack costs between 500-1000 riel (about 10-20 euro cents). In two weeks they have collected 3 euro and 20 cents. Some of them are preparing for First Communion, others for baptism. The proposal is extended to the whole parish for Lent. Fr. Luca Bolelli: "This group of children are really exceptional."
