Cause for the beatification of Card. Francis Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan opens
The ceremony held at the Vicariate of Rome. The cardinal spent 13 years in prison, becoming a witness of faith, hope and holiness to Catholics and non Catholics. The prayer of a non-Christian, a former fellow prisoner.
Father Nguyen Van Ly arrested again
The priest, one of the founders of a movement for democracy that calls for an end to single party rule, is serving a sentence of 8 years in prison. He was released last year for serious health condition.
