In Ho Chi Minh City 11 new priests in mission among those who are living great hardships
by JB. VU
Six of the priests, from the Congregation of the Most Holy Saviour, will go to areas of mission, three will serve the Congregation’s traditional mission of preaching the grace of Salvation, and two will work among AIDS patients and immigrants.

Ho Chi Minh City (AsiaNews) – The 11 new priests from the Congregation of the Most Holy Saviour ordained by Mgr Paul Tinh Nguyen Binh Tinh in Our Lady of Help Church are destined to work among people who are living great hardships.

“The Congregation operates and lives in the missionary spirit of the Church,” said the bishop during the ordination ceremony. “The new priests must join and develop the mission that Jesus entrusted to his disciples.”

Fr Vinh Son Pham Trung Thanh, representative of the Provincial Congregation, expressed his gratitude to the priests of the parish, the newly ordained’s families, their benefactors and friends who took care and helped the new priests in past years.

Father Vinh Son told those who present at the service about the new priests’ destinations. Six of them will go into areas of mission, three will serve the traditional mission of the Congregation preaching the grace of Salvation, and two priests will work among AIDS patients and immigrants in Ho Chi Minh City.

In order to progress in the missionary spirit of the Congregation, the new priests picked the most difficult areas of the country to serve their brothers and sisters, whatever their religious beliefs or lack thereof, especially those who live in particularly hard conditions.

What is the true good of the Church in China
by Card. Joseph Zen Ze-kiunOn the eve of an important meeting in Rome on "Jesus our contemporary," Card. Zen asks all Catholics to help the Church in China (and especially its legitimate bishops) to emerge from ambiguity, to follow Benedict XVI and "rid" themselves of those organisms that are enemies of the faith (see PA, Bureau of Religious Affairs, etc. .), and that control and stifle the faithful. The Chinese Church is on the verge of a schism caused by "bargaining" between the Catholic faith and political power. The subtitle of this article (wanted by the author) is: "In dialogue with the Community of Saint Egidio and Gianni Valente of 30Days".

Msgr. Savio Hon: Freedom for arrested bishops and priests, is also good for China
by Bernardo CervelleraEven if the government does not give answers or to the Holy See, or diplomats, or to friends of the Vatican and China, it is important that "no one forgets about them." The Chinese government's official response when asked is always: "We do not know." "We need to pray first," "but we must also appeal to those who are holding them."
