Pan-Orthodox Synod postponed over differences between Churches
The representatives of the 14 autocephalous Orthodox churches have not reached agreement on the rules for granting autocephalous status. Moscow will not recognize any kind of primacy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Pan-Orthodox Synod continues its proceedings
The recognition of the Catholic Church as a true Church will be discussed in the next two days. So far, the meeting has agreed on the Orthodox Church’s mission in the world, fasting, impediments to marriage, and Churches’ declarations of autonomy. New national bishops’ conferences will include bishops from various rites and nations.
Divided in Ravenna, Russian and Estonian Orthodox to talk
Bartholomew I is promoting a meeting between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Church of Estonia. Last October the Russians quit the Ravenna meeting because of the presence of Estonian representatives. In concluding the prayer for Christian unity, the ecumenical patriarch expressed his desire to see the process of unification speed up, stressing how ‘historical’ was the joint declaration made by Catholics and Orthodox in Ravenna. He also talks about spreading the Gospel in Hong Kong.

Divisions and conflicts between Churches jeopardise Pan-Orthodox Synod in Crete
Antioch wants to postpone the meeting due to disagreements with Jerusalem. The Bulgarian and Georgian Churches might boycott it. Contentious issues include marriage, relations between the Orthodox Church and the contemporary world, and relations with other Christian confessions. Bartolomeo 1st is making an effort towards unity.
