Speaking to Parliament in Baghdad on human rights, His Beatitude describes a reality that is "a source of concern." Security has "deteriorated" as have divisions of a confessional nature , fanned by " regional and international" powers. He calls for an end to the divisions and asks for greater courage from political and religious leaders to "unite the people."
Baghdad, Christians and Muslims take to streets against the law Islamization children
Patriarch Mar Sako leads the protest of the Christians against article 26 of the Constitution, which violates religious freedom. Patriarch denounces a coercive norm children and confirms intention to appeal to the highest international bodies. He also reminds parliamentarians that there are other priorities: corruption, Islamic state, poverty, education.

Chaldean Synod bears witness to Christ with love and hope amid war and violence
In the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Chaldean bishops reiterate the importance of evangelisation. Their goals include an enhanced role for the laity, deacons and married priests. Rebel priests and monks are ordered to return to their original diocese. The prelates prayed for Aleppo and Syria.
