Pope: Even among the 12 Apostles there was one who did not believe, Judas
In today's Angelus, Benedict XVI talks about Judas, the traitor who stayed in the Church even though he did not believe. He felt betrayed by Jesus because he expected a "winning Messiah." By contrast, Peter "believed in and knew" that Jesus was "the Holy One of God."
Pope: Saint Augustine, model of a conversion "that lasts a lifetime"
Benedict XVI concludes the cycle of reflections on the figure of the bishop of Hippo by emphasising his journey toward knowledge of God, and highlighting his own "personal devotion and gratitude" toward this "passionate seeker of truth" who influenced his life as "priest and theologian".
Pope: God thirsts for our faith and our love
Benedict XVI comments on the dialogue between Jesus and the Samaritan woman, the gift of water to the woman who with her "five husbands" demonstrates "the existential dissatisfaction of those who have not found what they are looking for" and live in a "repetitive and resigned" manner. An appeal for the populations of Ecuador, struck by floods and volcanic eruptions. An appointment with the university students of Europe and America, for the Marian vigil of March 1.
Pope: Even Judas was part of God's plan
Benedict XVI tackled the "mystery" of the betrayal of an apostle that Jesus treated as a friend without touching his freedom. But Judas' action, provoked when he gave in to Evil, was transformed into a "space of saving love". Traitors are not lacking in the Church but it is up to each of us to counteract the evil they commit.

Pope: The Transfiguration and the way of the Cross. An appeal for Lebanon

Pope: June the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, to encounter the infinite in the finite
Benedict XVI asks all Christians to rediscover this "centre" of faith, love, and hope, of life and of the world. A prayer for the populations of China and Myanmar, marked by natural catastrophes, and for those who suffer.
