Beijing chosen for the 2022 Olympics because 'everything is easier with the dictatorships'

Lausanne (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Speaking of the 2022 Olympics, which will be held in China, Gian Franco Kasper, head of the international ski federation, says candidly: "everything is easier in dictatorships".

"The dictatorships - he told the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger - can organize events like this without asking anyone's permission". Gian Franco Kasper, 75, is an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee and is known for his brash statements.

Beijing was chosen for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games by beating Almaty's candidacy (Kazakhstan). The Chinese capital has already hosted the 2008 Olympics.
