Chaldean Patriarch Sako tells Church: Be united in Christ to meet the mission's challenges
His Beatitude reminds the clergy that their task is to be "priests", that they belong to the "One" Church, which is not an NGO because "its core is Christ." He reiterates that their duty is to be "servants" and "pastors" of the community, and calls for transparency and rigour in financial matters.

Patriarch Sako: Amoris Laetitia, a source of mercy and learning for Christians and Muslims
The Apostolic Exhortation contains essential elements for Christian families. It has also elicited “positive thoughts” among Muslims. For the Chaldean Patriarch, Islam too is waiting for something different on the family and spousal relations. Despite the war, few families have broken down, which is not the case for those who emigrated. Married priests could be a model for the whole Church.

Mar Sako: the Pope in Iraq is a "necessity" for Christians hoping in a Syria-like "miracle"
The Chaldean Patriarch testifies to the "need" for solidarity and closeness to Iraq's Christian community. Muslims appreciate the Pope Francis' "symbolic gestures ", which enhance his "prophetic character". For Mar Sako, the Christian presence in the Middle East is "essential" and its "identity" must be preserved. The ordination of a priest and six new deacons are source of hope in this time of Advent.
Baghdad: Chaldean Church Synod to focus on emigration, vocations and liturgy
The Synod will run June 24 to 28 and will analyze the situation of the Chaldean dioceses in Iraq and among the countries of the Diaspora. Among other issues, the choice of pastors for the vacant sees, strengthening the presence of the laity and the creation of a Chaldean League. A special prayer to be recited at the end of Masses in preparation for the Synod.
Chaldean Patriarch in Nineveh: Vocations, marriage and children to revive Christian presence
Mar Sako makes a pastoral visit to the diocese of Alqosh, on the northern end of the plain. His Beatitude meets with the local clergy, presides at a Eucharistic procession and discusses the situation in the Chaldean villages. He notes the "sufferings" and calls for "cooperation , participation and concrete measures" to boost the presence of the local Church .

Receiving in audience Ignace Youssif III Younan, Patriarch of Antioch and of the Syriac Catholic Church, Pope Francis speaks of the diaspora caused by the conflicts in the region. "This movement towards countries considered to be safer impoverishes the Christian presence in the Middle East", "Witnessing to the Gospel when in discussions, is sometimes not easy, with people of different religions and ethnicities and religions."
