Pope to bless the faithful on Sunday

Vatican City (AsiaNews) – In a statement released this morning, the director of the Vatican press office Joaquin Navarro said that on Sunday, after the Angelus prayer, the Pope will bless the faithful from Rome's Gemelli Hospital but he will not personally read the address he usually gives before the Marian prayer.

"Tomorrow February 6," the statement read, "the Holy Father will not forgo the Angelus prayer with the faithful.

"After Mgr Leonardo Sandri, Deputy Secretary of State, has read the papal message and recited the prayer in lieu of the Pope, the Holy Father will administer the apostolic blessing".

Mr Navarro did not however specify whether the Pope will bless the faithful from the hospital's window or will just be heard over loudspeakers.
