ISRAEL - PALESTINE
Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed at least 92 more Palestinians in the last 24 hours, including 41 civilians seeking aid. Meanwhile, after the attack on the Christian village of Taibeh, colonial violence continues in the West Bank. THAILAND - CAMBODIA
The unconditional ceasefire between the two Southeast Asian neighbors is holding after five days of clashes along the border. Thailand had initially accused Cambodia of “deliberately” violating the truce agreed through Malaysian mediation. However, military delegations from both sides met for talks and the situation at the border is now “calm.”
CHINA
At least 30 people have died in Beijing due to heavy rains and flooding. Videos of flooding and landslides have spread on social media from the provinces of Beijing, Hebei, Liaoning, and Shandong. The Chinese government has called for maximum effort in the relief effort after the “serious losses” reported. With China entering the rainy season in July and August, heavy rainfall has caused “serious human and economic losses,” the state news agency Xinhua reported.
SINGAPORE - CHINA
Universities in Singapore - the second most popular destination for Chinese students - are introducing a growing number of postgraduate programs in Mandarin. Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) are among the universities launching new courses. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's leading software company, has announced cuts of more than 12,000 jobs. This represents a 2% reduction in its workforce.
